Nire Valley Autumn Walking Festival Weekend
This wonderful weekend, offers some fantastic walking, great talking, excellent local guides and the compant and comredery of like minded friends.
We have walks to suit everyones ability.
Saturday
Walk Type B+: Coumaraglin/Seefin/Coumfea Lakes
The walk registers is at Ballymacarbry Community Centre from 08:00 to 08:30. Bus to Mar-Mar road. Taking in climb of Coumaraglin Mountain and onto Seefin, then crossing the Monavullagh Mountain Range and arrive at Coumfea Lakes. Then crossing Nire River to arrive back at Nire carpark. Walk 16km requires a high level of fitness, duration of 6 hrs.
Walk Type B. Tour Of the Lakes
The walk registers is at Ballymacarbry Community Centre from 08:30 to 09:00. Bus to Nire Carpark , the walk will cross Nire River and climb to the Sgilloge Loughs. It continues around the base of Curraghduff to the Coumalochas and rise to Coumfe at 520mtrs. It then decends towards Lyre and crosses Nire River at the trailer bridge finishing at Nire Layby. This walk will take approx 5 hours and is 11kms in lenght and a good level of fitness is required.
Walk Type C. The Gap & Sguilloge Lakes
The walk registers is at Ballymacarbry Community Centre from 09:30 to 10:00. Bus to Nire Carpark. Walk 7km from Nire Carpark to the Gap and back to the carpark. 4-5hrs
Saturday Night Festival Dinner.
As a great social event nothing beats the Festival dinner on Saturday night in Doocey’s, you need to book in advance as places are limited, cost €20.00 per person. Just email us with names of who will be attending. Festival Dinner.
Sunday
Oldbridge to Ballymacarbry. Walk Type B+.
The walk registers is at Ballymacarbry Community Centre from 08:30 to 09:00. Bus to Clonmel. Walk 16km from The
Oldbridge, Clonmel to Ballymacarbry following The Munster Way. Ascent 420m. 5-6hrs.
Sguilloge Lakes/Coumlara Pateu/The Gap. Walk Type B.
The walk registers is at Ballymacarbry Community Centre from 09:00 to 09:30. Bus to Nire Carpark, Taking in the Sguilloge Lakes and then a gentle climb to Coumlara Plateu and onto Carrignagower, then desend to The Gap and follow Boreen an Socraid to arrive back at Nire Carpark. Walk is 12km & 5hrs in duration.
Tooreen Archaeological Site. Walk Type C.
The walk registers is at Ballymacarbry Community Centre from 09:30 to 10:00. Bus to / from Nire. Walk 6km. Ascent 00. Bus to / from Nire. Walk 6km. Ascent 125m. 4– 5hrs.
Boolabrien Loop—Family walk.
The walk registers is at Ballymacarbry Community Centre from 11:00 to 11:30. Circuit of Ballymacarbry, Boolabrien
and back to the Community Centre. 3hrs. Children are free on this walk but must be accompanied by an adult.
Appropriate walking clothes, boots etc are absolutely necessary.
Rates for all walks €15.00 for a single day or €25.00 for both days.
Light refreshments will be offered after the walks.
